You’ve got the hang of this now! Day 12 completed of the 30-Day Nutrition Challenge. Onward and upward to day 13, where we show you how to be positive around setbacks and use any experience, positive or maybe not so positive, for the better.
Using Setbacks as a Positive Learning Experience
What can be learned from a setback is often the most powerful learning experience of all. When everything goes our way and we feel on top of the world, it’s easy not to realize how great things are going. Then, when the table turns and the going gets tough again, we are forced to take in what’s happening.
Health, Fitness, or Life In General
We’ve all experienced them. Those dreaded setbacks can appear out of nowhere in any area of life. It’s how we deal with setbacks that makes the difference.
In this challenge, a setback could happen if you get sick, miss a day, or give in to temptation. If this has happened to you, get right back into the challenge stronger than ever. You’re human, and life happens.
Or you may be doing very well in this challenge but are experiencing a setback elsewhere in your life. Whichever the case, this nutrition challenge isn’t just to get your diet healthier; it’s also an all-round review and tune-up for your life. When you’re healthy and feel good, your life tends to run smoother.
Your Biggest Life Lesson
Reflect on your life. What is the biggest life lesson you’ve experienced? How did it come about? Was it a painful experience at the time and now your biggest lesson of all?
What was the highlight of your life so far? Did you learn more from your highlight or life lesson?
Positive Outcomes
Just because we typically learn most from the painful experiences doesn’t mean we can’t learn from our highlights and accomplishments. We need to use a positive outlook on our lives in general. I believe everything in life happens for a reason. Whether you agree with this or not, we can all benefit from a positive outlook.
This doesn’t mean we don’t feel and deal with our emotions. It’s still important to acknowledge what is happening, discussing it with someone you trust, maybe even crying or feeling angry for a period, then using these feelings and what you’ve learned to make you an even better person.
There are times we need to be heard, times we need to be comforted, times we need to be told what is great in our lives.
Acknowledge your feelings. Find your positive learning experience from the situation. Take action.
This process is a journey for life. If you embrace your journey and realize that the ups and downs make your life richer, the setbacks become bounce-backs. Before you know it, your life is even better than you visualized before.
