30-Day Nutrition Challenge: Tell Yourself You Can Do It!

January 21, 2014 By Christina Chitwood30-Day Challenges, Motivation, Nutrition

30-Day Nutrition Challenge: Tell Yourself You Can Do It!Congratulations! You’ve made it to day 20 in our 30-Day Nutrition Challenge. You’re so close to making your positive healthy changes a habit. Even when you have a habit, it can be tricky at certain times to stick with it. Therefore, I’m going to help you with positive affirmations so you can Tell Yourself You Can Do It!

Positive Affirmations to Keep You Going

Using positive affirmations helps you relay what you want to happen to your brain, so your brain can start working on making it happen. The best way to use affirmations is to write them down. Physically going through the process of putting a pen to paper helps the affirmation become more of a reality quicker.

Here are some examples of positive affirmations you can use for healthy eating. You can use an affirmation as is or fill in the blank to make it your own. Make sure you write your affirmation as if you’ve already completed it. Then put your goal date of when you’re doing this consistently through.

1. I successfully completed the 30-Day Nutrition Challenge by                             (fill in the date).

2. I am living the healthy lifestyle I believe in by eating healthily by                            (fill in the date).

3. I eat a healthy diet of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and unprocessed food by                              (fill in the date).

Be Your Own Friend With Positive Self Talk

You need to be your own best friend. You are the number-one person who has to be around you all day long, forever. So, love yourself.

It’s so easy to be negative, unforgiving, or just plain mean to yourself. Often, we do it without realizing it. Those times when we say to ourselves “you’re so stupid”, “get a handle on yourself”, or “I look so                      (fill in the blank)”, we’re ruining the self confidence we’ve worked so hard to gain.

The best thing you can do for yourself it to be your number-one supporter. Be nice to yourself. We try to treat others how we’d like to be treated, but why don’t we treat ourselves how we would like to be treated?

Here are a few examples of positive self talk to get you started. Use them all throughout the day. There is no number too large for how often you can say these phrases to yourself each day. The more you say positive self talk out loud, in front of the mirror, in the car, etc., the more you begin to believe it. Use these and as many others you can think of!

1. I am beautiful! or I am handsome!

2. I can do it!

3. I am strong!

4. I am confident!

5. I can do anything I put my mind to!

Today I used “I can do it!” when I found a delicious-looking Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup I didn’t know I had. I said it over and over to myself as I got rid of it. By the time it was out of sight, I didn’t even crave it anymore. Plus, I felt great for sticking with my healthy-eating goals. It’s amazing how you can feel something so powerfully and then change it quickly with positive self talk.

Enjoy Your Positivity

Now that you have positive affirmations and self talk, enjoy the positivity you feel and that’s coming from you. Even if you feel down, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can feel great again by using positive self talk. Have fun with it! You may even get comments from others saying how positive you’ve been lately or how you’re looking great. It shows when you are good to yourself and when you tell yourself you can do it!
