30-Day Nutrition Challenge: Track Your Energy

January 7, 2014 By Tom30-Day Challenges, Nutrition

30-Day Nutrition Challenge: Track Your EnergyWay to go! You made it through day 5 of the 30-Day Nutrition Challenge. We hope you are enjoying yourself and feeling good. It can be harder to pick up on when we feel good. It is much easier to notice when you feel tired, sluggish or lifeless. So we encourage you to take note of how you feel.

Just Notice

When your car is running smoothly, with no odd noises, bumps or clatters, we tend not to notice how it is running. You just drive it, get to your destination and think no more of it. When your car has problems, a noisy exhaust, squeaky brakes, clunky engine, you notice it. Every time you drive it, you notice it and it bugs you. You body is often the same. When everything feels good, when you feel energetic and full of life, you barely notice. You just go about your day, probably get more done, have more fun and never notice how your body feels. On the other hand. When you feel lethargic and slow, you notice it all day long. The whole day is a struggle. We want you to pay attention to how good you feel!

Take Note

Try this out! Keep a mini journal of how your body feels. This way you can really notice what parts of your diet make you feel good and which parts make you feel bad.

Try writing down how you feel several times a day. Use the same times everyday. Write if you feel good or bad. Energetic or Lethargic. Bloated or comfortable. As you start to build up a log of how you feel at certain times and certain days, look for some patterns. Do you always feel worse on a Tuesday? Do you have more energy in the afternoon compared to the morning? Try to match up any patterns to what you have been eating or when you were exercising.

Results Are In

If you managed to discover any patterns and made a connection to something you were eating, you have made a really important discovery. You can use this information to tweak and refine your diet. Eliminate the items that make you feel slow and bloated. Eat more of the things that make you feel light and energetic. Look forward to a more spritely and energetic you!
