Most children and adults enjoy playing games together, especially board games. It may seem surprising, but board games can develop both skills and enjoyment of life.
Here are 5 board games to help improve performance for everyday life:
1. Life
The name suggests living life and learning about it. This game is a good game for younger families or family members of any age. It’s not too in-depth, just good old-fashioned fun and developing thinking skills and good sportsmanship! |
2. CashFlow
This is a fantastic game to help with your finances and help you get ahead with your life in investments and more. This game was created by the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It’s fun for children and adults – no matter where you are with your financial knowledge. |
3. Cranium
This game is not only a very fun game to play with multiple players, but it also develops teamwork, creativity, acting skills, impersonation, drawing, and confidence. While working in teams, you may be acting out a skit or drawing a picture and having your teammate guess it before the other team. Lots of laughter goes with this game! |
4. Monopoly
This is a classic. You can play the regular version or one of the specialized versions. There are more and more choices available all the time. Monopoly helps with understanding money, property, and decisions. |
5. Don’t Make Me Laugh
Performance typically involves acting on some level. This game has you acting out different cards and scenarios. It’s a blast, and you’re developing confidence, acting skills, improvisation, and creativity! |
All these games can be very enjoyable. You and your friends or family may find you prefer one game or a certain style of games. Try out some games and see which you enjoy! 🙂
Huh, I wouldn’t have thought about playing Cashflow with kids. Of course, last time I looked it cost $300, so it wasn’t really at the top of my list regardless! I see it’s a bit more reasonable now, but still, $100 is quite a bit for (in my opinion, based on one play) what’s a reasonably good but not great game..
Thanks for your comment, William. I wish the game cost less, too, although my husband and I love playing Cashflow with my brother and his wife. We really have a great time with it – and have learned more about financial concepts as well! 🙂
I definitely agree that while we play game boards our skills are enhanced too. Monopoly has always been a family favorite but I’m open to checking out the others too. Thanks!
I grew up playing monopoly with the entire family on Saturday nights and I must say that this board game brought us closer in more ways than one. Camaraderie and rapport were definitely established and I feel so much sharper 🙂 Thanks!
I really liked CashFlow, especially the second edition. This board game is very educative!
I’ve played monopoly out of these games. And I agree with you totally. They tell you how to trade property correct. Will have to use the brain all the time. Thanks sharing!
