What I did to achieve my Goal?
My main goal was to pass the Playing Ability Test. Which I did! All the other goals were practice based to help me prepare for the PAT.n

Time spent on shots inside 100 yards – 4 hours

Time spent on putting – 3 hours

Thoughts on the week –
First of all I am happy to say I comfortably passed my Playing Ability Test on Monday with a 36 hole score of 148! My scores of 76 and 72 pretty much summed up where I am at with my golf game. The areas I spent the most time on over the last 2 weeks are the areas I excelled in. My wedges and putting were great all day. Because of my wedges and putting I got 4 birdies in the first 18 holes and 8 in the second 18! I take a lot of encouragement and confidence from scoring that many birdies. On the downside, with that many birdies my scores should have been WAY lower. I made several costly mistakes. I will attribute these to a combination of lack of concentration and still some inconsistencies in my swing. I won’t talk about the bad shots much as I still achieved my goal of passing on my first attempt!

What I learned this week – In the week leading up to the event, I spent little time on the range and more time focusing on wedges, putting and shot making on the course and pre-shot routine. I feel like I made real improvement in all these areas. I know the value of really being present and focused on a shot rather than half committed.

What you can learn – I want to share ideas on how you can improve your game from what I am doing. I DON’T WANT TO GIVE YOU SWING TIPS!! I have never seen your swing so I won’t tell you how to fix it. But I can tell you ways to play better with what you already have.

I am living proof that goal setting can help your golf game. Just 3 weeks into Project Awesome! I have shown improvement in each area I have set practice goals for. SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? If you want to improve your golf game take responsibility for it!

1 Seek out a good coach with a great reputation who can aid with technical swing changes or techniques.
2 Write down your practice goals in the present tense (I am………) and positive (I am/do…..) not negative (I don’t/won’t……)
3 Write your goals down each day on a notepad or note card either first thing in the morning or last thing before you go to sleep. Carry your goals with you all day.
4 Enjoy the process and love your results!

Goals for next week –

After seeing the success I got after focusing on shot making and committed practice to wedges and putting I want to keep this up

I practice putting for 30 mins a day 6 days a week by May 30th

I practice wedges shots inside 100 yards 1 hour per day 3 days per week by May 30th

I practice hitting a variety of shots with a patient tempo on and off the course 1 hour per day 6 days per week by May 30th
