The Relax Day Experiment Week 4: Vacationing and Working Out in Hawaii!

This week is an extremely exciting week. Tom and I are vacationing in Honolulu, Hawaii! In August we celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary, and this trip is an early celebration! For this vacation, I’m allowing myself to eat what I want as long as I work out 6 days during the week. Read on below to see how my week went.

Sunday, June 16th:

Today Tom and I flew to Hawaii! This is my one day off from working out (used from last week, since I didn’t have an off workout day).

I’m so excited for this week! We arrived in Honolulu in the evening. We had a lovely stroll near where we were staying and then had dinner.

Day 22 complete. A lovely first evening in Hawaii!

Monday, June 17th:

We started the day with a workout at the hotel gym. I did 25 minutes of intense bike intervals + 10 minutes full-body stretching. Later, we swam in the ocean at Waikiki beach!

We also walked around town and had a couple of meals. It was a wonderfully relaxing day!

Day 23 complete. A wonderful first day in Hawaii!

Tuesday, June 18th:

Today Tom and I started our day by surfing at Waikiki beach! This was was my hour-and-a-half workout for the day along with the walking around town and at the beach.

In the afternoon, we drove to another beautiful beach, Lanakai beach, as well as a lookout point. Absolutely lovely!

Day 24 complete. I loved the beautiful Lanakai beach!

Wednesday, June 19th:

Tom and I started the day with a workout at the hotel gym. I did 35 minutes of intense bike intervals + 10 minutes full-body stretching. We then met up with a friend at Mid Pacific Country Club to hit some balls on the range and play 18 holes of golf.

Another great day and lovely evening!

Day 25 complete. I enjoyed playing golf in Hawaii!

Thursday, June 20th:

Today we spent the day around Waikiki and did some fun ocean workouts. We kayaked for an hour at one end of Waikiki and later surfed one and a half hours at the other end! Kayaking was incredible … not only was it fun kayaking on the ocean but there were also turtles swimming where we were. So, we got to watch them swim, play, and poke their heads out from under the water. Surfing again was really enjoyable.

Day 26 complete. Kayaking near the turtles was amazing!

Friday, June 21st:

Tom and I walked around the markets today and did some shopping (in particular for gifts for our family). It was fun to look around and do some bargaining!
We surfed in the afternoon to evening today. Surfing for a couple of hours was our workout along with all the walking we’ve been doing. It’s been great surfing at various times of day and experiencing the differences.

Day 27 complete. I love doing sporty workouts with Tom!

Saturday, June 22nd:

Today was our last day in Hawaii, but we still started the day with a sporty workout. We went surfing first thing in the morning before we checked out. Our flight wasn’t until evening, so we had some lovely, long walks around Waikiki beach and the town. It’s been a wonderful vacation!

Interestingly, I didn’t care to indulge food-wise the final day, and I ate my normal healthy diet with the exception of lunch by the beach. I felt ready to get back to normal with nutrition.

I feel blessed to have had this vacation with Tom!

Day 28 complete. I LOVE visiting Hawaii!

It was an amazing and wonderfully romantic vacation! I absolutely loved it! I worked out 6 days during the trip and met my goal! I indulged for sure at certain meals but also had some healthy meals included throughout the week, too. It helped that we found a hotel that had a refrigerator and microwave. We were able to keep some groceries in our room for some healthy breakfasts and snacks. Having a refrigerator and microwave also meant we were able to have our leftovers. It was fun indulging for the week, but I feel ready to get back into my normal, healthy diet! Bliss!

Yay! I’ve completed my 4th week!
