Event Preparation Experiment – I'm Excited!

August 31, 2013 By Christina ChitwoodEvent Preparation Experiment, Fitness, Nutrition

Event Preparation Experiment Week 1 - I'm Excited!Event Preparation Experiment and Week 1: I’m Excited!

I have some big events coming up because my book is launching in September! I’m so excited to be a co-author in Against the Grain: The World’s Leading Experts Reveal How They Achieved Positive Results in a Down Economy!

To make sure I’m feeling my best and my body is ready for any events in the next 5 weeks or more, I’m starting the Event Preparation Experiment.

What I’ll Do for the Event Preparation Experiment

I will work out 6 days per week/do 6 workouts per week.

I will do a variety of weight training, Pilates, and cardio training.

I will be eating my version of gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free.

I will be mostly gluten-free but will include oats and Ezekial bread.

I will be mostly dairy-free but will include whey protein, yogurt/Greek yogurt, eggs, and goat cheese.

I will be sugar free except for the natural sugars or healthier versions of sugar in fruit/dried fruit, honey (also not vegan), or Agave Nectar.

Another thing I will be experimenting with is getting up at 5am every morning, including weekends. I tend to be a night owl and even though I have to start work often at 6am, I find it difficult to force myself to get to bed early enough to get adequate sleep. When I don’t work early in the morning, I tend to need 9 hours of sleep per night to feel my best.

One of the doctors who lectured at the IDEA World Fitness Convention said each hour you sleep before 12am is worth an extra hour. For example, 11pm to 12am is worth 2 hours of sleep. 10pm-12am is worth 4 hours of sleep. So, I will be working on sleeping from 10pm-5am. If this works, I should be getting lots of extra sleep with less time in bed each day I do this! That’s an exciting thought, and I’m hoping to get more products available to you because of it!

Getting up at 5am every day including weekends will be a process as it’s something I’m not used to, but I will work to stick with it. The exception is when Tom and I are in England for a couple of weeks. With the jet lag, time difference, and being on vacation, I will not be getting up at 5am every morning.

Event Preparation Experiment Week 1: I’m Excited!

Read on below to see how my week went.

Sunday, August 18th – Saturday, August 24th:

I completed 6 workouts this week – one workout each day for six days. These workouts varied from Pilates to strength workouts I created to a 20 minute HIIT workout I created that will be available to you soon! I stuck with my healthy eating as listed above, and Tom and I had healthy meals we cooked at home all week. We didn’t eat out at all this week, which felt good.

I also set my alarm for 5am each day and got up exactly then or close to 5am each day. I felt more tired than normal, but I didn’t get to bed at 10pm each night. I also feel my new sleep schedule will be something that will take a little time for my body to get adjusted to. I did definitely get a lot more product development and work on my business accomplished with the extra 1-2 hours each day!

Day 1-7 complete. I’m enjoying this experiment so far!

Yay! I’ve completed my 1st week!
