The Relax Day Experiment Week 6: Fourth of July Fun
This week the rink where I work is closed for annual maintenance, so I have the week to spend with family and focus on my fitness work! It’s also the Fourth of July holiday week.

Sunday, June 30th:
I got some extra sleep today on my day off to really get my energy back up. I then did an hour-and-10 minute-workout. I did 1 hour of Zumba choreography + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate. It was wonderful to do an intense workout again after having lower energy during the past week. It was great to push myself even harder as it was my own Zumba choreography.
Tom and I then did a photo shoot for the Fit Body Full Life Beat the Heat series. See the first two parts of the series here: Beat the Heat This Summer and Beat the Heat This Summer – Sun Protection Clothing and Accessories.
We spent the day together relaxing and having fun. In the evening I did some writing.
Day 36 complete. It felt great doing an intense workout again!
Monday, July 1st:
I took care of some work and then did a 1-hour workout. I did INSANITY Cardio Abs + 35 minutes Zumba choreography + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
I did quite a bit of research and writing today.
Day 37 complete. Writing was great!
Tuesday, July 2nd:
Today I started my day off with a 50-minute workout. I did 40 minutes of full-body strength exercises in a workout of my creation + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate. I also walked for 1 hour, 30 minutes at the San Diego Zoo and another hour later in the day. So, 2 hours, 30 minutes of walking, 40 minutes strength workout, and 10 minutes of stretching. A successful exercise day!
Tom and I enjoyed our time at the zoo together. We saw an awake baby koala and its mother. The baby koala even walked across a branch. It was adorable and also the first time seeing a koala awake!
Today was my relax day saved from last week.
We had a lovely evening with my family!
Day 38 complete. A great day or exercise and fun!
Wednesday, July 3rd
I walked around the park with Chea, and then we walked to the shopping center near us for breakfast. Our walk was my workout for the day.
I spent a lot of the day writing and researching. I spent some family time in the evening, too.
Day 39 complete. A good day of writing!
Thursday, July 4th:

Happy Fourth of July to everyone in the U.S.! We had lunch in Del Mar and then got manis and pedis. (I got a very 4th-of-July-fitting manicure! See picture.) Later, we had fireworks at our local park!
Today was my rest day from workouts for this week and also my relax day for this week. It was a wonderfully fun and relaxing day!
Day 40 complete. A great 4th of July!
Friday, June 5th:
I started the day with taking care of some to-do items and then did my workout. I did 30 minutes Zumba choreography + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
I went out to lunch at True Foods with family and found a beautiful dress for a gala I’m attending this year!
I did some writing and research. Then we went out to eat and watched a movie at home.
Day 41 complete. A great day!
Saturday, June 6th:
I took care of some items and then did my workout. I did 1 hour, 5 minutes of Zumba choreography + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
I relaxed some and wrote for a while. In the evening my family went to a movie at the newer theater that serves dinner and a movie. Today I used next week’s relax day, so I won’t have a relax day next week.
Day 42 complete. A relaxing Saturday!
I had a great week with family! I planned and used some extra relax days from other weeks this week since I was off and spending more time with family. It was fun and relaxing, but I’m looking forward to eating healthier this next week! My workouts went really well this week!
