Healthy Valentine’s Day – True Love Helps You Be Healthy!

February 22, 2013 By Christina Chitwood6-Month Nutrition and Fitness Experiment, Experiments, Fitness, Holiday Health and Fitness, Nutrition

This week has been interesting as it’s Valentine’s week. There have been pretty desserts along with candies everywhere I look. Although they are still enticing, it is remarkably less often that I think about sweets or that I even notice them.

Healthy Valentine’s Day - True Love Helps You Be Healthy

Week 12: Healthy Valentine’s Day – True Love Helps You Be Healthy!

Holidays and special occasions are still when I notice and crave desserts the most … Valentine’s Day being one of them, as I have had sweets every year on the holiday.

Read on to see how my week went.

Sunday, February 10th:

My workout today was TurboFire HIIT 15 Class + 10 minutes of full body stretching on the Power Plate. The TurboFire class was supposed to be Core 20 Class for today’s schedule, but I had ploenty of core work in since I did my physical therapy exercises yesterday. So, I wanted to get some good cardio in.

Then Chea and I made sure the house was ready for the baby shower we’re having today. Two of Chea’s friends have had babies recently, so the shower was at our house. It was so much fun to spend time with the babies and everyone that attended.

There were healthy snacks such as hummus, green salad, and fruit salad. There were also some yummy looking desserts that were brought to the shower. I have to say, I definitely felt like having a slice of the cake. Lol. It felt good afterwards to be healthy and have no regrets!

Day 78 complete. The baby shower was fun!

Monday, February 11th:

Today I did TurboFire HIIT 20 Class + TurboFire Sculpt 30 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

Otherwise, today was just busy working, getting through my  to-do list, and getting extra done before my weekend off for President’s Day. I get a lovely weekend off, as the rink doesn’t have any figure skating the entire weekend. That means I get to spend extra time with my amazing husband, relax, workout, and write!

Day 79 complete. I’m keeping busy!

Tuesday, February 12th:

I completed the TurboFire Fire 45 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

I enjoyed making yummy scrambled eggs with vegetables and toasted Ezekial bread. It’s a meal that always makes me feel great! Watch for the recipe I will be sharing with you.

Day 80 complete. Eggs give me energy!

Wednesday, February 13th:

My workout was TurboFire HIIT 15 Class + TurboFire Tone 30 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

I worked most of the day, completed my to-do list, packed, and prepared to have a lovely Valentine’s Day trip with Tom!

Day 81 complete. I’m ready for my Valentine’s day trip!

Thursday, February 14th:

Today is Valentine’s Day!!! Happy Valentine’s Day! Tom made me my favorite breakfast at the moment of scrambled eggs and Ezekiel bread toasted. Then Tom and I started the day out by driving to The Links on Summerly golf course and playing 18 holes.

It was wonderful to get exercise in that way for today and to spend the day with my husband! I counted the golf from today and walking around in LA tomorrow as my exercise for today.

For late lunch, Tom and I found a Thai restaurant in Temecula and shared tofu and Pad Thai. Then, for dinner Tom had booked an Indian restaurant, which was great as there were lots of gluten-free and dairy-free options!

I’m so happy Tom is supportive of my healthy eating and helps me find restaurants that will have what I can eat. Tom and I spent the night at Embassy Suites in Temecula. I just love traveling and staying overnight!

Day 82 complete. It’s Valentine’s Day!

Friday, February 15th:

Tom and I started our day with a healthy Embassy Suites breakfast of vegetable omelettes with no cheese, yogurt, and watermelon. Today was my rest day.

Tom and I met up with Will and Chea in LA and spent the day seeing some of the sights. Will and Chea had won some tickets to the La Brea Tar Pitts and the History Museum and invited us to go with them.

We met up at the La Brea Tar Pitts. It was interesting (smaller than we thought it would be). Then we spent the afternoon at the history museum. We spent most of the time in the dinosaur exhibits, which Tom loved!

We made it through a lot of the museum before it closed, but unfortunately not all of the museum. We then made our way over to Rodeo Drive to window shop and had dinner at a cute restaurant we found.

I had the butternut squash soup. They brought muffins to the table instead of bread. The muffins looked appetizing, but I was happy feeling good about my body instead of indulging (even though blueberry muffins used to be one of my favorites). We drove back in the evening and enjoyed talking along the way. What a great couple of days!

Day 83 complete. What a fun day in LA!

Saturday, February 16th:

I started the day by reading Rich Dad Poor Dad: What The Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! Then I worked out. Today I did the TurboFire HIIT 20 Class + TurboFire Sculpt 30 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

I spent over 4 hours writing today, which was just wonderful! It’s amazing how much fun it can be when you can just write on a day off and not have to worry about anything else! Once Tom got back, we spent a lovely evening together and reviewed our goals.

Day 84 complete. It was a great day to write!

It’s been a delightful week. I’m proud to be making it through more holidays successfully. First Valentine’s Day with no desserts, CHECK!

Yay! I’ve completed my 12th week out of 26 weeks! 🙂

Wow Christina, I really don’t know how you manage to get so much exercise into your day – I need to take a leaf out of your book I think.

Do you find having an online journal of your day-to-day regime actually acts as extra motivation?
