This first week only as I just completed my 6 month experiment, I am allowing myself a homemade dessert on Sunday, a meal out on Monday, and a “relax” day on Tuesday.

Sunday, May 26th:
Today is the SDIA ISI Open Championships. Congratulations to my students who competed in the competition! 8 first place, 13 second place, 4 third place, and 1 fourth place!
I was at the rink for the entire competition coaching, so that was most of the day. Then once I got home in the evening, Chea and I made our first real dessert in over 6 months! We still tried to make it healthier than normal. We made gluten-free and vegan chocolate chip cookies. We added a scoop of rice protein powder. Instead of white sugar, we used coconut crystals. We still used the brown sugar that is in the normal recipe. We also used semi-sweet vegan chocolate chips.
Fairly healthy for our first dessert in over 6 months! The cookies still tasted yummy, but I didn’t have the same need to have more once I had a couple. I had a little dough while baking and two small cookies. I was satisfied. Very nice to feel in control around sugar!
Day 1 complete. Congrats to my students!
Monday, May 27th:
Today the rink is closed for Memorial Day, so I have the day off. Tom also managed to get the day off with me!
I started the day with a TurboFire workout. I did HIIT 15 Class + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate + 18 holes golf (4 hours).
Tom and I had a great time playing golf at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course! It was a beautiful day, and we had a very enjoyable time just the two of us.
We then drove to Del Mar to have a celebration dinner at Il Forniao. We were celebrating my winning the Editor’s Choice Award for my chapter in the upcoming book Against The Grain! I’m extremely excited!
At Il Forniao, this was the first meal in 6 months containing gluten and dairy. I had half of a pepper, onion, and cheese calzone. Tom and I shared a dessert, which was delicious. I was happy and satisfied having half the calzone and dessert, which I’m happy about considering it’s my first indulgent meal in over 6 months. I felt fine during and directly after the meal, but about 45 minutes to an hour later, I experienced a stomach ache and cramps. Most likely due to gluten and/or dairy. It’s interesting that I didn’t often experience that before the experiment when eating gluten or dairy.
Day 2 complete. I’m excited to have received the Editor’s Choice Award!
Tuesday, May 28th:
Today is my relax day for this week and the first of the experiment. I had all gluten free and dairy free except the other half of my calzone from yesterday, a cupcake, and a tiny bit of another dessert which I didn’t finish or even want to finish. Definitely indulgent today but not too shabby for my first relax day.
For our workout today, Tom and I did hill walking together for 45 minutes + Wii Fit. Wii Fit was just a fun activity for us to do together on our day off and still be active.
Tom and I spent the day relaxing together and watched the new Fast & The Furious!
Day 3 complete. I had my first relax day!
Wednesday, May 29th:
I started the day off with a workout. I did TurboFire HIIT 25 Class + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
I did a bunch of to-do items, writing, and worked on my fitness product. I then worked until 8:15pm coaching and worked some more before relaxing a bit.
Day 4 complete. It was a long, productive day!
Thursday, May 30th:
Today I did a workout of my creation. I did 40 minutes of full-body strength and weight exercises with abs + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
I did some writing and work on my fitness product during my hair appointment before work in the afternoon. After work, I went to dinner with 10 friends and family!
Day 5 complete. It was a fun dinner tonight!
Friday, May 31st:
After work in the morning, I took care of some to-do items and did the first part of my workout. I choreographed a couple of Zumba songs and figured out the moves. After work in the afternoon, I did another workout.
Today I did Zumba choreography + TurboFire HIIT 20 Class + more Zumba choreography for a total of 1 hour, 30 minutes of working out today!
I also got ready for my trip. Tom and I had Thai for dinner and watched a movie at home.
Day 6 complete. It was a good, productive day!
Saturday, June 1st:
Today I started my day with an INSANITY workout. I did Insanity’s Cardio Abs + 35 minutes of strength and my workout creation + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
After work, I finished packing, and Tom took me to the airport. I flew to Colorado Springs for Cody’s wedding. Cody is one of my best friends, and I’m a bridesmaid! Tom is staying in San Diego to work during this trip. It’s awesome the wedding is in Colorado Springs as I get to stay with my parents!
Day 7 complete. I’m excited to be in Colorado Springs for a few days!
I had a good week! It will be interesting to see if it’s more difficult to stay on track with the relax day or if it will help even more. I look forward to the wedding next week!
Yay! I’ve completed my 1st week of the Relax Day Experiment!
