Sam Smith "Stay With Me" Dance Workout with Christina Chitwood

August 1, 2014 By Christina ChitwoodDance Fitness, Fitness, Videos

This popular song is so pretty! I made the steps in this routine easier than the steps for “All of Me.” The workout is still tough, though, because there’s a lot of balancing. Work to start your movements from your core and expand outward.Sam Smith "Stay With Me" Dance Workout with Christina Chitwood

This is a full-body workout! The more you do this workout the better you will get at isolating your body and using bigger body movements.

The leg movements can be adjusted to whatever height is challenging but feels natural to your body. I would advise starting at approximately 45 degrees and working higher as you get stronger with the routine. You can always stay at 45 degrees, and it will still be a great workout.

Just Keep Moving

Engage your abdominal muscles throughout the routine to have strong posture, get more benefit from the routine, and protect your body. Do the breakdown as many times as you need to feel comfortable and get the most benefit out of the workout. Just keep moving, and you’ll still get a workout.

For both workouts, crosstrainers or dance shoes are recommended. I was barefoot for this routine as that was best with my flooring.

Workout Ideas

Do a warmup before this workout and a cool-down after. You may also choose to do the breakdown a couple of times as you warm up. Here are some ideas for you to use this workout (times are approximate):

10-Minute  Workout – Do the breakdown 1x and full workout 1x. This would be slightly longer when cooling down.

20 -Minute Workout – Do the breakdown 2x and full workout 2x.

40-Minute Workout – Do the breakdown 2x and full workout 2x. Repeat breakdown and full workout alternating each 2x.

Follow with approximately 5-minute cool-down.
