Week 10: Staying Healthy While Having Visitors
This week, I had my normal schedule to maintain while my parents visited. I love spending time with my family! The challenge when having visitors is keeping my regular workouts and eating healthy when eating out. Read on below to see how my week went!
Sunday, January 27th:
Today I started off the day by reading and then working out. For my workout, I did the TurboFire Fire 45 Class + Core 20 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate. I taught a Girl Scout Troop ice-skating lesson and then took care of my to-do list and relaxed some.
Day 64 complete. I love reading & working out!
Monday, January 28th:
My parents arrived today for a week-long visit! I’m very excited to spend the week with them in addition to my normal week! We enjoyed a lovely evening when my parents arrived!
Today I did the Fire 55 EZ Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.
Day 65 complete. My parents arrived today!
Tuesday, January 29th:
I spent a lot of today with my parents whenever I wasn’t working. We went to a movie as a family, which is always fun! I had some music to edit after and, as life gets busy, sometimes workout schedules have to be changed around. I’m going to do an extra workout tomorrow to make up for today.
Day 66 complete … a busy and fun day!
Wednesday, January 30th:
I did a morning 2-hour workout to cover yesterday’s and today’s workouts. I wouldn’t normally suggest doing 2-hour workouts. It’s often better to split long workouts into two separate workouts. However, if it’s not possible to do that, then it’s good to fit a long workout in.
The workout I did included HIIT 15 Class + Fire 30 Class + physical therapy exercises + 10 minutes full-body stretching.
In the evening after work, we went to the Thai restaurant near us that we enjoy.
Day 67 complete. I completed my 2-hour workout successfully!
Thursday, January 31st:
Tom and I went to the Farms golf course and warmed up on the driving range before playing 18 holes! It was lovely, and I feel blessed to be able to enjoy such a great activity with my husband! I treated the 5 hours of golf today as my workout. I walked faster than normal and even ran to some of my shots. Sometimes it’s good to be creative with workouts.
Day 68 complete. Golf was great fun!
Friday, February 1st:
I started the day with work. On my break at 1:00pm I worked out at the Kroc gym. As it’s not the easiest to do TurboFire at the gym, I did 25 minutes of bike intervals (5 minutes warm-up, then 3 intervals of 3 minutes fast and high intensity with 1 minute slower pace, and then ending with a 5-minute continuous slower pace) + physical therapy exercises + 10 minutes of full-body stretching. It was interesting to do the bike intervals again as I’ve not done them in a while. Typically when I haven’t done a specific workout in quite some time, it feels more difficult than the last time. However, the bike intervals felt like a good workout but no harder than I remember. So, that means I’m in good cardiovascular shape from my TurboFire!
Right after work, we all went out to eat as a family at the great Veg-N-Out restaurant. Unfortunately, on the way home I started to feel sick to my stomach. This continued into the night. I later discovered it was the stomach flu.
Day 69 complete. I enjoyed my workout at the Kroc!
Saturday, February 2nd:
I had the stomach flu today, which started last night. It seems like the 2-day stomach flu that’s been going around with most of my students. I slept for a lot of the day and could get down a little of a smoothie in the evening but nothing before that. By the end of the evening, I was feeling worn out. My stomach was feeling a little better but still not normal at all. I went back to bed for an early night.
Thank goodness today was my planned recovery day for workouts anyway!
Day 70 complete. Stomach flu be gone … please!
This week was super busy but also really great. It was so lovely to have my parents visiting! I hope the stomach flu passes quickly. I’m proud that I kept up my healthy eating, working out, normal work schedule, and got to spend time with my family!
Yay! I’ve completed my 10th week out of 26 weeks! 🙂
