This is the second part of this nutritional series. Click here for part one: 2 hours before. So now it’s 30 minutes before your workout. What is your body wanting? What is it craving? What does your body need to help it through your workout and give you the most benefit from your hard work?
What Your Body Needs
Well, not too much really. If you munch down a huge meal just before working out, chances are you will be wearing it pretty soon. So keep it light. Eat something that will supply a little bit of energy. Fruit here is perfect, maybe with a few almonds. Or a fruit smoothie with whey protein. Your body is just looking for a little boost of sugar (from a natural source where it is combined with fiber, like fruit) and a little bit of protein to help power through your workout.
You could try this Peanut Butter Chocolate smoothie recipe before your workout. It is pretty filling, so just a small glass would be fine.

This is great, I’m happy to see a bit of fruit is the right thing to do shortly before a work-out, as that’s what I’ve been doing. The smoothie looks divine but I don’t like peanuts, do you have any other recipes I can check out? XOXO
