Dr. Seuss Inspired Fitness for Kids and Kids at Heart

Exercise should be fun for kids. When exercise is made into a fun activity, it helps kids develop a love of exercise. This love of exercise could then carry on into adulthood, helping kids have healthy habits throughout life.

Dr. Seuss books are often some of kids’ favorite books, so why not use their favorite books to develop a love of exercise?! Here I’m going to give you ways to use Dr. Seuss themed activities as exercise for your kids.

Do a Cat in the Hat workout!

Cat in the Hat Workout for Kids and Kids at Heart

This Cat in the Hat workout for kids and kids at heart is a fantastic workout for all ages and is very silly! Plus, it’s only 3 minutes long, which is great for improving focus in a short period of time. It can be repeated for a longer workout.

Choose a Dr. Seuss book to read to your child. Have your child move like the characters in the book.

There’s no right or wrong way to do this. Have fun! The object is for your child to keep moving throughout the entire book. For example, your child could act like the Cat in the Hat, Thing One, Thing Two, and even the scared fish during a reading of The Cat in the Hat.

Here are two Cat in the Hat inspired exercises!

Be like Thing 1 and Thing 2 running around the house with a kite with the Thing 1 and Thing 2 running with a kite exercise for kids!

Do the Cat in the Hat I Can Do That! Game.

The full version of the game is great and is recommended for ages 4+.

Here are ideas and a video tutorial for using this fun game with a preschooler:

Have your child act out a character after you read a Dr. Seuss book.

Encourage as much movement as possible. You could even join in with your kids for a family Dr. Seuss performance night.

Have your child do yoga poses related to different characters, objects, or actions in a Dr. Seuss book.

OMazing kids has lots of fun Dr. Seuss yoga poses, such as yoga poses inspired by parts of Green Eggs and Ham.

Here’s the Green Egg Pose:

Here’s the Here or There Seated Twist Pose:

Yoga is fantastic exercise. It’s also calming and great for relaxation for kids. It’s important to have a strong and flexible body, and the earlier kids start developing both strength and flexibility, the better.

Encourage a Healthy Lifestyle

The importance of living a healthy lifestyle can’t be emphasized enough. And you will probably be amazed at how much fun you can have doing these activities with your child. Hopefully, you’ll get some smiles and giggles from a happy child, too. 🙂

Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t just done through exercise, and eating healthy food is extremely important for children’s health, maintaining consistent energy levels, having positive attitudes, staying focused, and more.

Here is a Dr. Seuss inspired yummy, healthy snack and a super-healthy, fun meal that kids and adults can enjoy!

Nice and informative post to share on kids fitness. I think parents much keep an close eye on on their kids physical activity, and they should have to be encouraged to participate in sports, besides sitting in front of IDIOT box and Computer.
