Tone Your Arms Basic Low Weight Pilates and Strength Workout {Fitness Tutorial}

April 15, 2017 By Christina ChitwoodFitness, Videos, Workouts

Do you want toned arms? Are you looking for a Pilates or strength workout? I’ve created this tone-your-arms basic low-weight Pilates and strength workout for you!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS WORKOUT

A Set of Dumbbells (I’m using adjustable dumbbells similar to these. Adjustable dumbbells are great for saving space or for smaller home exercise areas.)

A Mat (This is the mat I’m using in the video: here. This particular mat has gone way up in price since I received it a couple years ago at the IDEA World Fitness Convention.)

A Water Bottle (Preferably a glass water bottle.)

Maybe a Sports Towel

FUN, FULL-BODY, DANCE-STYLE WARMUP

Before you do the workout, make sure to do this warmup (blog post tutorial) first!

EXERCISES IN TONE YOUR ARMS BASIC LOW WEIGHT PILATES AND STRENGTH WORKOUT {FITNESS TUTORIAL} – YOUTUBE VIDEOS

These exercise breakdowns are to help you learn each exercise, develop good posture, and become more knowledgeable about the exercises you’re performing. You can go through the breakdown of each exercise as many times as you’d like. I do recommend doing each exercise breakdown at least once to develop a better understanding of the workout. Even if you’re familiar with the exercise, it’s always helpful to review.

MAKING FITNESS FUN!

The primary focus of this workout is arms. Weight lifting is a fantastic way to strengthen and tone arms. The Pilates at the beginning of the workout helps prepare your body for the weights and also works core in addition to the upper body.

The first exercise helps set your posture, especially your back and shoulders in a good position for the weight lifting part of the workout. The second exercise incorporates rotation, continues to work posture, improves mobility, and starts to work the arms more – especially when one arm goes into a mini pushup while the other arm is thread through. The main toning section for the arms are the third and fourth exercises.

This workout is a strength endurance workout which uses low weight and high repetitions.

If you are new to exercise or haven’t been working out regularly, strength endurance should typically be performed for approximately 3 months before switching from strength endurance.

What part of this workout is your favorite? Do you have a favorite exercise in this workout?

Have fun!
